Drunk makes people do stupid things
And sometimes stupidity=fearless. I’m sorry that there has to be slight Adrien salt in this draft but I couldn’t see another way around it.
At a party on the Couffaine boat, Lila spiked Marinette’s drink. She hopes Marinette will humiliate herself.
While Marinette would never transform in public, she will fearlessly admit she has a crush on Adrien right to his face and that she knitted his birthday scarf.
Next up, Marinette accuses Lila of lying. When her classmates sigh and don’t believe her, Marinette speed dials Jagged Stone and puts him on loudspeaker so he can claim he never owned a kitten.
Next Marinette giggles and throws Alya’s own words back at her. Honestly, Marinette was the one who got her that interview with Ladybug and it was a nightmare to get. (Mostly because Tikki had to be heavily bribed for the miraculous to be used for personal reasons). She calls out that even Hawkmoth knows Lila is a liar or else he would have kidnapped her already or forced her to reveal Ladybug’s secret identity.
Now everyone knows that a drunk Marinette is a slightly tipsy, brave blabbermouth, and they pray she doesn’t reveal their secrets.
She reveals Adrien knew Lila was a liar. She was there when Ladybug confronted Lila after she badmouthed the heroine. Marinette confessed she was ordered by Ladybug (technically Tikki is part of Ladybug) to collect a tome while she confronted Lila. She found the tome in a garbage bin thrown by the liar.
After that Ladybug asked her who could have owned the book and suspected Gabriel. Once Gabriel’s name was cleared, Ladybug was reluctant to return the book but relented and let Marinette return it after she took photos.
Yeah, Adrien and Lila are in trouble, the latter more so.
Lila makes a plea she only wanted to impress her already impressive class, but Marinette snorts and drunkenly points out that Lila has never behaved like a Friend. Not when she has the class serving her lunch, not when she always makes lousy excuses to avoid helping them (like with Max’s video game and Mylene’s tree planting), and definitely not when she called the class dumb as she threatened Marinette.
Yeah, there is a typical class outroar at this. Adrien and Alya asked in horror why she never told them.
Marinette shrugs. “Would you have believed me? After all, you all were so ready to send me to the back.” She looks at her cup and frowns. “Can I get a re-fill?”
Juleka takes the cup from Marinette and sniffs it. She glares at Lila. “Did you spike Marinette?”
“No! Of course not.”
Max pushed up his glasses, his eyes shiny with unshed tears. “After what we have heard tonight, do we have any reason to trust you?”
When Lila tries to lie that she really owns the Fox Miraculous (a hero would never spike someone. Yeah she’s getting desperate), Marinette snorts and asks her to let them see her kwami.
Lila is confused. Alya asks how Marinette knows that sort of stuff.
As Adrien tries to lead Marinette away before she can blurt out her secret, she laughs and reveals she was multimouse and that she held both Ladybug and Chat’s miraculous as she defeated kwami buster. She wasn’t a hero anymore but she knew what a kwami was.
The rest of the heroes, worried more hero secrets might be revealed, agree Marinette needs rest, or just water to cool off.
Lila’s plan to humiliate Marinette backfired badly.
Plagg is laughing in Tikki’s face. The latter is more upset that Plagg doesn’t sense the danger. But to Plagg, as long as Marinette doesn’t start talking about the Guardian or revealing that she is Ladybug, who cares? This is so amusing. Her Ladybug is admittedly strict on keeping those a secret, everything else is free game.
Hawkmoth akumatizes Lila to Chameleon and learns that Marinette was Multimouse.
Lila steals Marinette’s appearance and pretends to be in danger. Chat Noir arrives to save her but he isn’t fooled. When Adrien saw the fake on TV, he was baffled as to how she could have gotten there so fast. He found Marinette where the class left her, in Juleka’s bed, sleeping out the spiked drink.
Yeah...Chameleon’s weakness is really easy. Just throw something at her face and hope it makes contact with her lips. Then wait for Ladybug to show up. Chat grew worried when Ladybug giggled and suggested they throw the inanimate object off the Eiffel Tower and let it break to release the akuma.
Hawkmoth really wants to akumatize Marinette if Ladybug thinks she is worthy of such power.
Sadly he has no more use for Lila as she has lost her influence on class.
When Marinette returns to school sober, she is scared about what she will find.
Her classmates treat her as normal and Adrien owes her an apology, after the tongue-lashing everybody gave him last night for letting them be manipulated. He also thanks her for his birthday present and saving him from homeschool.
Adrien is on thin ice with almost every classmate. They forgive the sheltered boy but admit he will have to regain their trust somehow. Adrien vows to do just that. On the bright side, Marinette still trusts him, though this just makes Adrien feel guilty because he hasn’t done anything yet to deserve that trust that she knows about. (I’m not sure whether this is before or after Marinette was framed). And of course there is now a bit more awkwardness since Adrien is now aware of Marinette’s feelings and hasn’t addressed them. He is still in love with Ladybug but breaking Marinette’s heart is not a good idea right now, at all. He doesn’t want to hurt Marinette (or get further ostracised by the class), so he chooses to ignore it.
The classmates choose to say sorry to Marinette individually.
Alya realized the Achu trip was a lie and went to check on Mrs Rossi as Class Deputy. Surprise. Lila is taken out of Dupont and sent to military school.
Later, Adrien finally proves his trustworthiness to Marinette when he defends her against his Father who is trying to prep her for akumatization.
